Thank YouWalk4Vets Hosts VVH ResidentsOn January 31st at the West Earl Fire Hall, the organization, Wal4Vets hosted the Veteran's Victory House residents to a dinner/mixer. The event was absolutely fantastic. After eating a huge dinner, turkey, ham, potatoes, stuffing and many other side dishes, plus a huge array of desserts, the residents and the group played a few games and the winners were awarded prizes. One highlight in many of the evening was Sen Brubaker donating a flag as a prize to one of the games. It was won by a Walf4Vets member and donated to the VVH. On February 18, 2009, Sen Brubaker will present the flag at the Transitional Living Center, home to the VVH. Over 50 people were in attendance and the residents each left with a tote filled with many items to assist them in daily living as well as a 0-trip zone-2 bus pass to aid in them getting around for interviews and appointments. The Prog Coordinator was presented with a check for $3000, specifically for our specialized addictions counselor and additional bus passes for the residents. It was a true community event, and more than enjoyed by all. A giant thank you to Dixie for organizing the event, and the entire Walk4Vets organization. |
