• it is a new iniative
• it addresses the needs of our most at-risk populations
• it helps the recipients move toward self support, and
• it empowers those in need to be full participants in the economic,
social, and cultural life of the community.
They sent out 29 invitations and received a record 14 responses. They
narrowed those to the 5 that best fit the criteria and then the committee
members picked 3 that were visited one afternoon. After careful
consultation, Trinity Lutheran chose one ... this year's winner, the Transitional
Living Center's Mentor Program. We thank Trinity for the faith they have
shown in our initiative.
2010 update: Since receiving this award, 11 residents at TLC have been
mentored by 8 different mentors. We are always looking to add to our
group of mentors ... at any given time, 20 people are waiting for a mentor.
