Meal time

October 19, 2017

Tonight is banquet time—the time TLC gets to recognize its great volunteers, community partners and the work we do. Our community partner, who will receive our Jay and Maggie Kiralfy Community Service Award is Ebenezer Baptist. Ebenezer has been a partner for over a decade and one of the many contributions they make to the shelter is to prepare and serve a meal the 4th Thursday of each month. The participants love the food and camaraderie Ebenezer provides.

Last week, F&M’s Black Student Union, prepared and served a meal, as well. It was their first time doing this and we welcomed them with open arms. As the pictures show, the food looked scrumptious and was enjoyed by all.

More than the food itself is the human contact, sitting down and sharing food with another provides. It is this times that we share laughs, talk of the day and just have conversation with each other and more importantly listen, that mean so much to us all.

Congratulations to Ebenezer Baptist and thank you to F&M’s Black Student Union for brightening up the day for so many at our shelter. If you would be interested in learning more or participating in a meal, please reach out, dhopwood@tabornet.org.
